Higher education worldwide is at a historic crossroads. With more than 300 million people entering the workforce in the next 10 years, students urgently need to augment their capacity to meet the growing demand for employees armed with the digital skills needed to drive businesses in the age of AI and automation.

“The market for skills is evolving, and education must evolve with it. Recognising the changing skills needed for the future of work, we wanted to create a next gen learning ecosystem that allows students to learn in-demand skills,” said Raja Singham, Chairman and Senior Lecturer, BAC Education. “Coursera for Campus complements our core curriculum, allowing our students to advance their skills for a digital world and remain competitive in the workforce.”

That’s why BAC is the first institution in Malaysia to partner with Coursera, a leading global online learning platform, to offer full-scale blended learning and improve student employability. Through Coursera for Campus, students and faculty will gain free access to more than 4,600 job-relevant courses across digital marketing, project management, cloud computing, data science, blockchain, computer science, and AI.

This joint endeavour also focuses on Law, Hospitality, Business and Creative Communications students and integrates Coursera content from the world’s leading universities into the core curricula of the Foundation, Diploma, Degree and Masters’ programmes.

So here are 4 reasons why this partnership makes you an attractive employee:

  • Micro-credentials from the world’s best universities: Imagine your CV but with certificates from top notch universities and companies like Yale University, Google, Macquarie University, IBM, John Hopkins University, and Duke University amongst others. Wouldn’t that make you stand out from the rest?
  • Learn in-demand digital skills: With rapid digital transformation affecting the way businesses operate, multidisciplinary skills in data science, project management, and digital marketing (amongst others) are vital for success in the workplace.
  • Relevant professional development: Gain skills and experiences that are highly sought after in the global marketplace, thus levelling the playing field during job interviews. This is a great way to showcase unique skills that set you apart from other qualified candidates, which is becoming increasingly important as more and more companies look for applicants with a diverse mix of skills and experiences.
  • Showcase your character: Speaking confidently about a skillset that you’ve developed can help guide interviewers and employers in the right direction. Micro-credentials from world-class institutions provide a clear-cut example of what you know and what you can get done, above and beyond your course.
