History and Philosophy of Psychology

Introduction to Psychology

This module introduces key concepts and theories of psychology and their real-life applications. Topics include history, research methods, sensation, perception, consciousness, stress, coping, learning, memory, motivation, and emotions.

 Psychology of Learning

This module provides an overview of the physiological, social, and cognitive development stages in adulthood and aging. You will explore the psychological changes people experience as they grow older, identifying specific changes and the forces that drive them.

Social Psychology

This module introduces the science of social psychology, focusing on social interaction and influence. You will explore theories behind social phenomena, examining how people think, feel, and behave in social contexts, with an emphasis on social influence and situational factors.

Industrial and Organisational Psychology

This module introduces Industrial and Organisational Psychology, focusing on how psychologists help organisations manage and develop employees, leading to better talent, reduced turnover, increased productivity, and improved engagement.

Professional Ethics

This module is intended to provide you with the ability to analyse ethical situations within a specific profession such as health care, business, and public administration. 

Organisational Behaviour

This module explores how and why people think and act in organisations. It covers individual factors (e.g. personality, motivation, decision-making), group dynamics (e.g. leadership, group processes), and organisational elements (e.g. structure, culture, procedures).

Cognitive Psychology

This module is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of topics related to the information-processing mechanisms of the mind, including consciousness, perception, attention, memory, conceptual knowledge, and emotions.

Abnormal Psychology

This module examines psychological disorders from theoretical, clinical, and experimental perspectives, focusing on terminology, classification, causes, assessment, and treatment of major disorders.

Computer Application

Year 2

Introduction to Clinical Psychology

This module covers the clinical characteristics of major psychiatric disorders and the scientifically validated treatments for these conditions.

Child Psychology

This module enhances your understanding of human development, focusing on the growth, maturation, and behaviour of children. Topics include prenatal development, infancy, language, intelligence, emotional and moral growth, and self and gender development.

Adolescent Psychology

This module studies the biological, psychological, cognitive, emotional, personality, and social changes during adolescence. It covers heredity, culture, major theories, moral development, gender roles, sexuality, and family relationships.

Introduction to Counselling

This module helps develop counselling skills and improve interpersonal relationships through idea, feeling, and attitude exchange. You will gain practical knowledge of counselling and interviewing skills through interaction and experiential learning.

Psychology of Adults and Old Age

This module explores psychological theories related to adulthood and aging, focusing on the challenges, experiences, and transformations that shape these stages of life.

Introduction to Statistics

This module introduces you to the basics of data analysis and statistical computing. You'll learn key concepts like descriptive measures, probability, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing, giving you practical tools to analyse data and assess statistical claims.

Year 3

Cross Cultural Psychology

This module explores how culture and psychology intersect, helping you understand how cultural influences shape your own experiences and those of others around the world.

Personality

This module gives you a broad overview of human personality, drawing on key theories and current research in areas such as genetics, emotions, motivation, and attachment. You’ll explore how personality develops, how it’s assessed, and how factors like gender and culture play a role.

Industrial Training

Industrial training is a key part of building the practical skills you’ll need before graduating. It combines what you’ve learned with real-world, supervised work experience. This module helps you prepare for that by developing and strengthening your knowledge and skills.

Project Paper 1 & 2

This module helps you apply what you’ve learnt throughout the programme—especially in literature review, academic writing, and research methods. It also supports the development of your project management and research writing skills.

Social Deviance

This module explores behaviours and beliefs that go against cultural norms and social expectations. You’ll examine how deviance is socially constructed across different times, places, and contexts, using various theories. Topics will include current issues that may be seen as controversial or differ across cultures.

Research of Methodology in Psychology

This module lays the foundation for your understanding of research in psychology. Gaining these skills is essential for making informed, evidence-based decisions.
